Pregnancy Scare is the first full-length record from the Prague-based group The Sads. The Sads sound could be, and has been, described as:

a) “wistful”
b) “melancholy”
c) “ironic”
d) “beautiful”
e) “all of the above”

Singer, guitarist, songwriter Steven Rusling describes the music of The Sads as “like sitting on a cold vinyl chair, shirtless.”

In truth, it’s much better than that.

But descriptions are pointless, talking about music is like dancing about architecture (nods to Steve Martin)….listen to The Sads on the Dovetail media player, and of course Pregnancy Scare (or individual song mp3s) can be purchased here at Dovetail.

Trunk Show is performing for the annual New Year’s Eve festivities at the glorious (and sometimes notorious) Bassy Cowboy Club (Schönhauser Allee 176A, 10119 Berlin Prenzlauer Berg), doors open @ 22:00, show starts @ 23:00, followed by the New Year fireworks courtesy of Berlin’s finest vandals and drunkards, and the all-night-into-the-morning dance party conducted by DJ Mystic N. (60ies wild style, r & beat, r & blues, surf, rare groove ), DJane Koko Temple (swing, exotica, early ska), and a few guest DJs…

On hand with Trunk Show will be songs (old and new and a Tom Waits tune or two), whiskey (old), a giant cheesegrater and baby doll heads (new, someone stole the old…), something borrowed (nothing new), something blue (probably), and every damn good reason to shout to the heavens for joy….

Tower of Dudes are a self-described “international, accordian-laced, cow-punk band based in Prague, Czech Republic”, though not your average one. Known for their live show, they have been a mainstay on the Prague live music scene over the past couple of years, have toured throughout Central Europe and the British Isles, and are preparing for a spring tour of Germany, Czech Republic, and Holland. Tower of Dudes are also presently working on the follow-up to their self-titled debut CD, available here on Dovetail Records (Visit the store page for more info).

Their music has been featured on radio programs both in Europe and North America, and they have been described as “….an after midnight acoustic jam of Wolf Parade with members of 16 Horsepower and Neutral Milk Hotel from the old days….” and as a “….wonderfully adept indie rock band that mix elements of folk, country, punk, and indie rock into one powerfully charged sound….”
